The water spray park has been a great addition. NEW ownership in 2012 has seen the Great Aussie Holiday Park, 39kms north of Albury, come ahead in leaps and bounds. It was already a popular park for families but a range of new additions and improvements really makes it one of the top ve choices in the region for a family holiday. The energetic and enthusiastic Melanie and Russell Diffy have given the park the upgrade it needed and have a range of facilities that will keep kids busy from dawn til dusk. The new jumping pillow and water spray park have enhanced its appeal even further by adding to existing activities such as the swimming pool, playground, tennis court and indoor recreation room. Over the holiday period the park offers a range of organised activities for kids including the ying fox, archery and rock wall climbing ($10 for one hour) and also hosts a kids club for $5 for one hour or $15 for two hours (longer session includes morning tea). Always popular is the animal nursery where the family can hand feed a range of animals at 4.30pm daily and the recent addition of Turtle, the miniature pony, has been a big hit. The new pump/bmx bike track means kids that take their bikes can challenge themselves with a little more than just a leisurely ride around the lake s edge. Oh, and don t forget that lake - Lake Hume or the Hume Dam - this major dam captures water from the Murray River downstream of its junction with the Mitta River and was constructed over a 17-year period between 1919 to 1936. The Great Aussie Holiday Park is ideally located right on the banks of Lake Hume and this opens up a whole new set of activities that all the family can enjoy. Swimming, kayaking, shing, sailing and of course, boating. A private boat ramp and boat fuel are both on site and they also sell shing licences if you ve forgotten to get one on your way there. The park covers more than one hundred hectares of scenic rural landscape and has two kilometres of private foreshore on its banks. In the future, owners hope to install a mini- golf course and establish a mountain bike track. The range of accommodation is extensive. You can choose from park view cabins, poolside cabins, leisure units and the squatters huts, which have recently enjoyed a makeover involving painting, new furniture and bedding. Camping can be unpowered, powered or with the luxury of your own ensuite. Prices for all are dependent on the time of year. For example unpowered sites range from $22 - $52, ensuite sites $38 - $66 dollars and pool view villas from $180 - $225. The peak periods of easter and xmas/new year come with minimum night stay restrictions.
